Last Friday, the official Wechat Account of China Food & Drinks Fair announced that: To actively respond to the “Notice of State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control mechanism to COVID-19 Regarding the Further Efforts to Prevent and Control the Pandemic in Key Places, Units & Crowd” (hereinafter referred to as notice) which proposes that "all kinds of exhibitions shall be suspended for the time being", the Organizing Committee of China Food & Drinks Fair has decided to postpone the 102nd China Food & Drinks Fair, which was originally scheduled to be held in Western China (Chengdu) International Expo City from May 21st to 23rd, 2020. The specific arrangement of the postponement will be announced in time.

Due to the impact of COVID 19, this is not the first time for the 102ndChina Food & Drinks Fair to be postponed.

Before the outbreak, the original date of this fair was March 26th to 28th. However, due to the outbreak, on February 4th, the postponement was announced.

On March 25, the Organizing Committee announced that the fair would be held from May 21st to 23rd in Chengdu. However, the State Council issued the “Notice” on April 6thsuggesting that all kinds of exhibitions shall be suspended for the time being.

Since then, the rumor that the China Food & Drinks Fair will be postponed again has gone viral. It is worth mentioning that the 9th Sichuan International Tea expo, which was scheduled to be held from May 7thto 10th, was also postponed according to an announcement on April 13th. As we can see, China Food & Drinks Fair is not the only exhibition to be affected and postponed due to the pandemic.

WBO has heard from some insiders of the exhibition industry that the event is very likely to be held in September in Chengdu and might be merged with the Autumn China Food & Drinks Fair which takes place every year in October.
